Section 4 of the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, read with Rule 6 of the Industrial Relations (Central) Rules, 2026, mandates the constitution of a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) in every industrial establishment employing 20 or more workers.
Every such establishment should also adopt a Model Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the effective, transparent, and legally compliant functioning of the GRC. Failure to constitute the GRC within the prescribed time may attract penal consequences under the applicable labour laws.
A legally compliant and customised SOP prepared by a legal practitioner generally involves a professional fee of ₹21,000 or more and normally requires at least one week for preparation.
